There are lots of different diet plans available that can help you to lose weight in a variety of ways. Some cut out certain food groups, while others restrict calorie intake. Here we’ll look at one form of diet plan that makes use of the glycemic index to help that excess weight to drop off.
Glycemic Index Diet Plan
This is basically a diet that is based on the GI of carbohydrates. It works by providing you with certain foods that your body is not so fast to convert into fat that gets stored. A GI diet plan goes towards providing you with a set of low GI carbohydrates to make this happen and in doing so it reduces stored fat in your body. Of course, this is a good way to stop weight gain and when you combine it with some light daily exercise it will lead to weight loss.
A low GI diet plan avoids foods based on refined flour like white bread and pasta, as well as cakes, biscuits and pastries. Instead it concentrates on including healthy alternatives made with wholewheat flour. The reason for this is refined white flour is composed of high GI carbs and that’s why things like white bread, pastries, pasta, cakes and biscuits all cause weight gain.
Cakes and biscuits are also composed of high levels of trans fats and sugars, which are also very bad for anyone wanting to lose a few pounds! Consequently, wholewheat food products tend to contain more low GI carbohydrates which are better for you as long as they’re also low in trans fats and refined sugars.
One really good, low GI food is porridge which is made from rolled oats. If you want a high powered breakfast to get your body going for the day ahead, then porridge is definitely that. Oats are made up of very low GI carbohydrates and are extremely good for you. They act as a diet aid and also as a health booster. They help to reduce the bad LDL cholesterol, promote good HDL cholesterol and normalise your blood sugar levels. At the same time they boost your metabolism which means you will burn more calories. And we know what that means… a reduction in weight.
If this alternative type of diet plan interests you, then its also a good healthy option which can benefit you and your health in many ways.

After my last post where I looked at how you can “Lose Weight in the Home”, I’ll post a really simple and short one of my great weight loss tips that anyone can do and one that is so simple and pleasurable at the same time that you’ll want to try it out straight away!
It involves something that we all do from time to time, but never enough to make a difference. What is this enigmatic and fabulous weight loss tip?
Stretching!
Ok, ok… I know it sounds crazy, but when I explain why you should do do some serious stretching, you’ll understand why its so important for anyone wanting to lose weight.
The most important time of the day to do this is first thing in the morning before you’ve even gotten out of bed! Yep, that’s right – as soon as you wake up and open your eyes, instead of jumping out of bed and heading for the bathroom, unless its imperative of course, take a minute or two to stretch those bones!
Well, not exactly the bones, but you get my drift, I’m sure. Its the muscles that you need to stretch to give you that fitness edge and its as easy as anything to do and it sets you up for the day ahead. Start by stretching your legs as much as you can. Have a good yawn while you’re at it and stretch your arms way up over your head (you should sit up for that). Stretch your back and neck and really feel the muscles pulling as you do it. then you can get out of bed and stretch your legs some more, rise up onto the balls of your feet and stretch again.
All this stretching simply wakes your muscles up from their long period of motionlessness while you were asleep and sets them up for the work they’ll have to do through the day. It gives a booster to their ability to burn some excess calories more efficiently and helps to prevent any injury that you might incur from doing other simple exercises by pulling or straining a muscle. This is mucj less likely to happen if you’ve done some pre-exercise work and stretched those muscles first.
So that’s it. Told you it’d be easy, and exercises don’t come much easier or more enjoyable than a good stretch and a yawn!

Following on from my previous article here “Walk the Dogs!”, where I outlined the pleasurable pastime of walking your dogs to get the exercise you need to lose some weight, there are of course many more weight loss tips that are very useful and yet easy to do. Here I’ll be looking at some really easy and simple-to-do ways to lose weight in the home as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Well, the first thing you have to do if you want to even begin to stand any chance at all of losing weight is to get in the right frame of mind. This is something I may well have to repeat many times throughout these articles because it is such an important part of weight loss.
Where the mind leads, the body will follow!
So get it into your head that you are going to get the body shape and ideal weight that you desire. And make it a real desire. Not the kind of desire like you might have for something out of your reach, but a real desire that you may harbour for a certain possession or a vacation or a new car. A deep rooted, almost carnal desire for a healthy looking and feeling body – yours!
Once that is in place – and I mean really in place like you really mean to get what you want, then you’ll find it so much easier to do the things you need to do to achieve that desire.
So with a head full of desire, get up off the sofa, or get out of that chair, switch off the TV or computer, or games console or whatever it is that is sapping your life away and get your body into the same rhythm as your mind!
Simple exercise weight loss tips that you can do around the house:
Don’t lumber up and down the stairs – run! Yep, by stepping up your pace as you charge up and down stairs is a well known aerobic exercise that raises your heart rate fast and gets you out of breath. Just the thing to get you into the swing of things!
Then do some housework! OMG!!! Did he just say that?
Yep, this includes the blokes! Pick up that broom and go sweep something and do it like you mean it! Grab that vacuum cleaner and get vacuuming and do it with enthusiasm! You’ll be toning up your muscles while you do it! Grab a cloth and clean out the bath and shower. Clean up the tiles on the bathroom and kitchen walls! It all makes you move your body and use muscles that you don’t normally use.
The whole point?
Getting your muscles moving and the more muscles groups you get toned the better because as you add muscle tone, those muscles require more energy to function, meaning every time you use them a lot, they will burn off more of that stored up fat!
I’ll leave you with that thought…
Hang on – don’t just sit down again and think about it – DO IT!
